BlueSkies Training

The Blue Skies training system
The Blue Skies teaching system is a hands-on program designed specifically for autistic children. This system is comprised of an orbiTouch Keyless Keyboard, lesson plans, training aids, and assessment tools.

The orbiTouch generates letters and characters by moving both the right and left hands in one of eight directions, such as the directions on a compass. Groups of colored letters and characters are located on the right hand side, while matching colors are located on the left hand side.

The Blue Skies teaching system teaches by color and not sequentially by letter. An example would be the RED Module. All letters and characters that have red backgrounds such as "A, F, K, P, U, Z, 0, 5" comprise the RED Module. After the RED Module is mastered, the YELLOW Module is added. After the YELLOW Module is mastered, a review is taught combining both the RED and YELLOW Modules. This process continues until all of the modules have been mastered.

As the children learn the modules, they also can play games such as "Bubbles," designed by the Blue Skies team. This game records and stores a host of assessment data for each student that can be retrieved by the teacher to determine progress and mastery for record purposes.
